Stiller's Viral Video - A Riot
I came across this hilarious viral video on youtube. I have to say Robert Downey Jr. was so funny. He has a great sense of humor.
Lately, at I.C.E. writers camp, I've been learning some handy writing tips for details and using all my senses. I created a character named Hister a few days before camp, and being around all the creative juices I was inspired to write a comic strip about him. I was working on the art today, I will post it up later when I get a chance to scan it. Anyone know any good sites for doing comic books? :]

Cloverfield Toy Action Figure from Hasbro

Reviewed by Nick
Hasbro Cloverfield Toy Page
Price: $99.00 for advanced orders
Hasbro has announced that they will soon reveal the product images for the most closely held secret in Hollywood this year: the Cloverfield Monster. But why wait? Starting today fans can pre-order the action figure exclusively from www.hasbrotoyshop.com.
“Hasbro is very excited to be working with Paramount and Bad Robot to bring to market a piece of the film for fans and collectors,” said Brian Goldner, COO of Hasbro, Inc. “The fan buzz on this film has been terrific and we are happy to take part in the excitement.”
The creature stands a substantial 14 inches tall and comes with the following features/extras:
- -70 points of articulation and incredible life-like detail
- Authentic sound
- 10 parasites
- Two interchangeable heads, one calm and the other menacing
- Statue of Liberty head accessory (just for tossing around!)
- Special Cloverfield collector’s edition packaging
This will be a hot collector's item, and would look great in my room. Over a number of birthdays I built up a collection of about 50 ninja turtles, the Power Rangers set, and plenty of Marvel action figures. I'd like to see the Cloverfield monster action figure tower over them as he did over NYC. Now, if Paramount can work a deal with the people at Fathead.com, that would make one really intimidating room!
They say there's limited number, and they won't ship for a long time, but you can order them know for about $99. Check back, I'll post the images of the toy as soon as they are available.

Bratz, Saggy Pants, and Scarface Article
I'd been wanting to talk about the 'Bratz' phenomenon for awhile. Well, they just posted my latest contribution at gnmparents.com. The article is titled Bratz and other Nasty Ideas . I felt there were some similarities between Bratz, saggy pants, and Scarface worship, and talk about it in that article. I'm not the only one to dislike the Bratz idea, check out this anti-Bratz rant. ***GUEST KID REVIEWERS WELCOME***
Be a contributing writer! If you are under 18 and would like to post your review of a movie, book, game, or music on KidReviewer.com, email me. I'll have to make sure it's a good fit first, but if I post it I'll be happy to link back to your site if you have one.
Thanks for all your comments. I've just written a book review for the wonderful Enders Game, and a website review for KidCartoonists.com, which I'll post soon.

Memes, Music, and Miyazaki, Oh My!
A blogger friend 'tagged' me to take part in an activity where you answer a few questions about yourself, then ask a number of others to answer the same questions about themselves. Some bloggers call them a meme, though the true nature of a meme is a little different I think.
Here's the opening definition from MemeCentral.com:
"Memes are contagious ideas, all competing for a share of our mind in a kind of Darwinian selection."
Anywho, I don't plan to use KidReviewer to promote chain-letter type activities, but I want to at least give something back to my friend who has been a frequent visitor and blogger. So, below are my answers to the two questions asked, linked to interesting resources:
Three Things to Die For:
Gummy worms
Miyazaki movies
AnnaSophia Robb (starred in Bridge to Terabithia)
As a matter of fact, if I could take AnnaSophia to a Miyazaki movie and share a big box of gummi worms, that would be a pretty sweet day.
My Top Musical Picks:
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Disorder - System of a Down (Disorder lyrics here)
Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles (wikipedia on Eleanor Rigby)
I've listened to all of these at least once a month for most of this year.
PS - I wouldn't mind these cool shoes below, or these Air Jordan shoes.

A Vote for Nick is a Vote for ...
I just had an interview posted at bloginterviewer.com. A vote for me would be the coolest...
Interview
And just to show my thanks in advance, here's a cool as heck video of a mountain-biking trail, in real time. Honestly, I thought this must have been fake at first, it's amazing what someone put together, and these bikers tackle. Are they going down hill the whole time???

Seven Deadly Sins Plus One
They just posted my latest contribution at gnmparents.com. The article is titled Seven Deadly Sins Plus One . Something about the seven deadly sins always intrigued me, so while I was thinking my thoughts through I just kept typing. If you write a blog post about that topic and include a link to Kid Reviewer, let me know and I'll link back to you from here.
Thanks for all your comments and ideas. I'm getting juiced up to write my next article, though I have a backlog of movies reviews to catch up on. I've also found some awesome fun websites to share, so I may combine a few of those in a post soon too. For the next article at gnmparents.com, I've been thinking of comparing three great rock stars, stay tuned.
Okay, I can't stand it, I have to share something else. If you are a web geek, this is the coolest, and very popular right now. It's animation and music about the 'stars' of the web, like Star Wars Kid and the Dramatic Chipmunk. Watch and see how many you recognize.

Teen Blogger Unlocks iPhone
Check out this story about a teen blogger. His blog is very techno geek stuff that's way over my head, but I like to spot kid bloggers of all types, and this teen definitely made news today. An excerpt from the AP story is below:
NJ Teen Unlocks IPhone From AT&T Network
By PETER SVENSSON
AP Technology Writer
"NEW YORK (AP) A 17-year-old hacker has broken the lock that ties Apple's iPhone to AT&T's wireless network, freeing the most hyped cell phone ever for use on the networks of other carriers, including overseas ones.
George Hotz of Glen Rock, N.J., confirmed Friday that he had unlocked an iPhone and was using it on T-Mobile's network, the only major U.S. carrier apart from AT&T that is compatible with the iPhone's cellular technology. In a video posted to his blog, he holds an iPhone that displays "T-Mobile" as the carrier."

Things I Don't Like Girls to Do
They just posted my latest contribution at gnmparents.com. The article is titled Things I Don’t Like Girls to Do . I really like all kinds of girls, but I might get a few comments that disagree with my post. Yes, I know that boys have their faults too...maybe I'll write about that another time. If you write a blog post about that topic and include a link to Kid Reviewer, let me know and I'll link back to you from here.
Thanks for all your ideas of what I might write about for that parents blog, or this one. Keep 'em coming.

Kid Blogs and Kid Bloggers
When I started blogging, I thought it would be cool to make connections with other kid bloggers. But when I looked for them they were hard to find. (I didn't count blogs like on myspace, where the site isn't really blog, but just a place to network and tag each other.)
Anywho...I figured if I had a hard time finding kid bloggers, maybe other people did too. I even saw comments about that. So, I looked, and put my dad to work looking, at google, yahoo, technorati, etc. We searched for "kid blogs", "kid bloggers", and more. There are also alot of blogs by adults who use 'kid' in their name, like Three Kid Circus, which is a nice parent blog. So those had to be cleaned out.
I left in some kid blogs that were abandoned, because they looked like a good try, and someone might want to see the way they did it. It's cool to see kid bloggers from all over the planet. I hope to meet some of them someday.
Below is my kid blog list, separated into three groups. The top group have good designs and lots of good posts, and almost all are high school age. In fact, 1 or 2 might be in college but still 17 yrs old. The second group are entertaining, a younger crowd, but very nice job.

3 Things Not to get me for My Birthday
I was recently asked to contribute regularly at www.gnmparents.com, a great blog for parents. For my first post, I wrote about what I would NOT want for my birthday. The crazy thing is that #1 on my list was not to get a haircut, but then a week after submitting it I got my hair cut and dyed!I'm putting some ideas together for next month's post at Grasshopper News Media, and I'd love your ideas. What would parents want to hear about from a 13 year old kid blogger?

What are your plans for the summer?
So far my summer has been fun. I mostly hang out at the park with my best friend Devonte, and sometimes I do some myspacing. My plans for later include going to ICE writing camp and maybe sharing this blog with everyone. Also maybe some tennis lessons, but I’m new at it and my parents don’t know exactly how it will work out.
Lately me and my dad have been driving around looking at hills for me and my sweet long board to carve up, and I hope to continue this throughout summer, with occasional stops at Sonic drive in for dessert. I wish that we could go to Cocoa Beach and surf some, but we might do something different for vacation this year.
Let me know what your plans are, and especially if you know of a good place to go for vacation.

Kid Blogging
Lifehack.org had a good post about the reasons for kids to blog. Parents should check it out.
World of Evan is by a creative 6 year old, although I'm not sure if he's still blogging. It has stories he's created.
Another is Aiden Hatch . Aiden’s last post was a few fav songs; here are a few groups I’m into right now:
Pink Spiders
Panic at the Disco
Fallout Boy

My April Fools Day Fun
Today is April fools day. And the best yet I think. I went to my uncle Danny’s house so that my brother and dad could watch the Gators win again. I spent all of my time with my young cousins Delaney and Riley. The are both under 8 years old. We swam and played outside all day. When it got dark, we went inside and watched Howl's Moving Castle. It was good but half way it froze, for a long time. So Delaney and me looked up April’s fools pranks for the next day. Once we made our little list of mischief, we finished our movie and went out to the tent in the backyard and went to sleep.
I woke up at 5:56 a.m. and tried waking up my partner in crime, but couldn’t succeed. So I snuck inside and did the first on the list. Tape the spray nozzle to the sink down. Classic, yet effective. Then I tried to accomplish more, but had no idea where their stuff was. So I went back out to the tent and sat up, staring at the hump of blankets that held Delaney. As soon as she woke up, I rushed her inside. We hurried around and the next we did was to put salt in the sugar bowl. Next we unscrewed the salt shaker top. We super glued coins to the driveway, and waited until everyone got up.
Danny got sprayed, and laughed it off. Then he went to get a drink, came back, and got sprayed again! So did Melissa. Then we took off the tape. The salt cap was uneffective. Danny saw it and screwed it back on. But, when they all went to get their coffee, they were greeted by an over whelming salty suprise. That one got us in some trouble. They had to dump out all of their sugar!
In the end we all laughed it off. I’d like to thank all of the victims for being good sports about it all, and Danny, for letting us stay at his house to watch the game.
Here’s a cool April Fools site:

Pizza Hut Book It Critics = "Big Dummies"

Rating (1-5): MINUS 12 donuts for Susan Linn!
News Story: Critics Denounce Pizza Hut Book It Program
My dad told me about some critics that are complaining about the Pizza Hut Book It program. He asked my opinion, my immediate answer:
They are Big Dummies!
Susan Linn, their leader, said it "undermines parents", "promotes junk food", and said it "epitomizes everything that's wrong..." HEY SUSAN, you may be a Harvard doc, but when it comes to kids and reading, you're a Big Dummy, and you can Book that.
Some of my favorite times has been when my mom takes me to the Pizza Hut to cash in on the Book It program. It doesn't happen every day, and it's great quality time with my mom. "Undermine parents"? Just the opposite, it brought us closer, and I appreciated her taking the time to take me by there. Also, I felt a little proud to cash in for my mom to see!
And I like the pizza, what's so wrong about that? "Junk food"? I'm lean and athletic, and have a ripped stomach you will probably never have. (photo coming soon) Obesity? You don't get obese from visiting a Pizza Hut a few times a year, even a month. That's ridiculous. Since when did having some bread, tomato paste, and cheese become junk? Civilizations have eaten basic foods like that for centuries; I learned that in 5th grade history, what's your excuse?
Oh, and the "epitomizes," blah, blah, blah. Big words from a little person. And that's coming from a 12 year old. A 12 year old that loves to read, and has built on that reading to write as well. That reading helped give me the vocabulary to win the county speech contest as a nine year old, and has taken me to countless imaginary worlds. I salute Pizza Hut for a great job encouraging kids to read, and hope people see that Susan Linn makes no sense. No donuts for you or your Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood.
Additional:
>>Dad sez: “Nick has read piles of books for the sheer joy of it, AND loves the Book It program. This lady is full of herself, and harmful to kids."
