Youth Bloggers Network - A Place for Young Bloggers
Rating (1-5):
Site:www.youthbloggers.net
Genre: Community site and forum
I was invited to check out the YBN by the founder and admin Patrick DeVivo. Patrick is a 14 year old blogger living in NYC. The site is not without flaws, but Patrick has done a great job putting the site together, and I believe it can be a place for kid bloggers to share ideas and connect with others.
When I first visited, I looked around, saw a few other young blogger names I know, and found the forum easy to use, so I registered. Getting started was easy. The profile section is fine, and lets you list several IM's, but I'd like to see some more fields to add things like my twitter account: twitter.com/KidReviewer.
There are some glitches in the navigation, as I found Patrick's bio, but then couldn't find how to get back to it again, but overall I had no problem finding the forum. Patrick says he reduced the ads, and I think he has a good balance of space. I encourage other kid bloggers to check out the Youth Blogger Network, and participate. Patrick is a huge fan of Wordpress, and can probably help other kid bloggers with some tips. Right now he's running a contest with a prize of a Black Omni Wordpress theme.
Way to go, Patrick!

Teen Blogger Unlocks iPhone
Check out this story about a teen blogger. His blog is very techno geek stuff that's way over my head, but I like to spot kid bloggers of all types, and this teen definitely made news today. An excerpt from the AP story is below:
NJ Teen Unlocks IPhone From AT&T Network
By PETER SVENSSON
AP Technology Writer
"NEW YORK (AP) A 17-year-old hacker has broken the lock that ties Apple's iPhone to AT&T's wireless network, freeing the most hyped cell phone ever for use on the networks of other carriers, including overseas ones.
George Hotz of Glen Rock, N.J., confirmed Friday that he had unlocked an iPhone and was using it on T-Mobile's network, the only major U.S. carrier apart from AT&T that is compatible with the iPhone's cellular technology. In a video posted to his blog, he holds an iPhone that displays "T-Mobile" as the carrier."

Kid Blogs and Kid Bloggers
When I started blogging, I thought it would be cool to make connections with other kid bloggers. But when I looked for them they were hard to find. (I didn't count blogs like on myspace, where the site isn't really blog, but just a place to network and tag each other.)
Anywho...I figured if I had a hard time finding kid bloggers, maybe other people did too. I even saw comments about that. So, I looked, and put my dad to work looking, at google, yahoo, technorati, etc. We searched for "kid blogs", "kid bloggers", and more. There are also alot of blogs by adults who use 'kid' in their name, like Three Kid Circus, which is a nice parent blog. So those had to be cleaned out.
I left in some kid blogs that were abandoned, because they looked like a good try, and someone might want to see the way they did it. It's cool to see kid bloggers from all over the planet. I hope to meet some of them someday.
Below is my kid blog list, separated into three groups. The top group have good designs and lots of good posts, and almost all are high school age. In fact, 1 or 2 might be in college but still 17 yrs old. The second group are entertaining, a younger crowd, but very nice job.

Kid Blogging
Lifehack.org had a good post about the reasons for kids to blog. Parents should check it out.
World of Evan is by a creative 6 year old, although I'm not sure if he's still blogging. It has stories he's created.
Another is Aiden Hatch . Aiden’s last post was a few fav songs; here are a few groups I’m into right now:
Pink Spiders
Panic at the Disco
Fallout Boy
